Apologies : Heather, Catherine, Beverley
Discussion : This Faraday Month book had been chosen by Gabrielle because she had read another novel by Liane Moriarty called The Husband’s Secret and thoroughly enjoyed it. For those who’d read What Alice Forgot it was a disappointing read – the lost memory theme seemed laboured; we were being reminded every other page about her lost ten years and that got annoying and the end, after seeming not to be going to end that way, was cliched and predictable.
The score was 2.5 – halfway between 2 = Better than a Faraday and 3 = Vastly better than a Faraday on our Faraday Index.
Also on issues of memory loss, although to do with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and highly recommended are:
- Still Alice by Lisa Genova
- Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey (this is also a thriller)
Our next meeting is a Sunday one – Sunday 7th September 2014 at 2pm when Vic will be leading the discussion on The Wild Places (NF) by Robert MacFarlane. I’ll check about the venue. – HC
